Committed to sharing Christ's Commandments: To love God and to love our neighbors as ourselves, through worship, education and outreach.
7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted,
yet he did not open his mouth;
like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,
and like a sheep that before its shearers is silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
8 By a perversion of justice he was taken away.
Who could have imagined his future?
For he was cut off from the land of the living,
stricken for the transgression of my people.
9 They made his grave with the wicked
and his tomb with the rich,
although he had done no violence,
and there was no deceit in his mouth.
10 Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him with pain.
When you make his life an offering for sin,
he shall see his offspring, and shall prolong his days;
through him the will of the LORD shall prosper.
11 Out of his anguish he shall see light;
he shall find satisfaction through his knowledge.
The righteous one, my servant, shall make many righteous,
and he shall bear their iniquities.
12 Therefore I will allot him a portion with the great,
and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;
because he poured out himself to death,
and was numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.
|1||He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High, *|
|abides under the shadow of the Almighty.|
|2||He shall say to the LORD,|
|""You are my refuge and my stronghold, *|
|my God in whom I put my trust.""|
|3||He shall deliver you from the snare of the hunter *|
|and from the deadly pestilence.|
|4||He shall cover you with his pinions,|
|and you shall find refuge under his wings; *|
|his faithfulness shall be a shield and buckler.|
|5||You shall not be afraid of any terror by night, *|
|nor of the arrow that flies by day;|
|6||Of the plague that stalks in the darkness, *|
|nor of the sickness that lays waste at mid day.|
|7||A thousand shall fall at your side|
|and ten thousand at your right hand, *|
|but it shall not come near you.|
|8||Your eyes have only to behold *|
|to see the reward of the wicked.|
|9||Because you have made the LORD your refuge, *|
|and the Most High your habitation,|
|10||There shall no evil happen to you, *|
|neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.|
|11||For he shall give his angels charge over you, *|
|to keep you in all your ways.|
|12||They shall bear you in their hands, *|
|lest you dash your foot against a stone.|
|13||You shall tread upon the lion and adder; *|
|you shall trample the young lion and the serpent|
|under your feet.|
|14||Because he is bound to me in love,|
|therefore will I deliver him; *|
|I will protect him, because he knows my Name.|
|15||He shall call upon me, and I will answer him; *|
|I am with him in trouble;|
|I will rescue him and bring him to honor.|
|16||With long life will I satisfy him, *|
|and show him my salvation.|
41 When the ten heard this, they began to be angry with James and John. 42 So Jesus called them and said to them, ''You know that among the Gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. 43 But it is not so among you; but whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave of all. 45 For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life a ransom for many.''
